A local high school senior was honored Tuesday night for promoting peace and understanding in the community. Simone Gibson from Friends' Central School received the annual Princeton Prize in race relations.

A local student is inspiring her school and community with her drive to improve race relations. Shaker Heights High School senior Amani Hill wanted to close the minority achievement gap. Hill co-founded an effort called "Bridging the Gap," which brought together students, faculty, and community members to find solutions.

A 17-year-old senior at University City High School received the inaugural Princeton Prize in Race Relations for the San Diego region. Pranaya Anshu received the award for her four years of leading a global education program at the San Diego Public Library, spending almost 200 Saturdays teaching children.
