Katie Klasing began her junior year at Mountain Brook High School with a mission: She wanted to reinstate the then-defunct Heritage Panel, an organization dedicated to social justice and working for change in schools.

Each year Princeton University bestows on 26 high school students from all over America it's prestigious Princeton Prize in Race Relations. Never has a student from Newark received it. Shawn Ohazuruike entered the Delbarton School in Morristown with a predominately wealthy, white student population.

Amanda Medendorp, 17, didn't intend to stoke dialogue on race when she founded the first peer tutoring program at Ogden International School. But she did. Grades rose at the school, too. And Princeton University noticed.

Lower Merion High School senior Blessing Osazuwa was recently awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment in the prestigious Philadelphia Princeton Prize in Race Relations competition for her dedicated efforts to confront and address the unique issues facing women of color.
