Tayler was honored for creating, organizing, and moderating a panel that addressed racial and cultural stereotypes. The panel included upper class students, local public officials and religious leaders. More than 200 adults and students from a diverse range of racial backgrounds attended. The panel helped students and administrators become more aware of the racial and cultural stereotypes they held, leading them to be more conscious about overcoming these preconceptions. Students also became more sensitive toward their peers and as a result, raw, honest dialogue was sparked among racial and ethnic groups.
