Ali Hagag
Roxbury High School in Parsippany, New Jersey
Ali Hagag is an 18-year-old Egyptian-American from Parsippany, New Jersey, where he attends Roxbury High School. As the student body president and a member of the Sports Medicine Academy satellite program, Ali is passionate about fostering inclusivity and addressing public health concerns, with aspirations to pursue a career in medicine and policy. In response to witnessing and experiencing racial bias in school, Ali co-founded the school's inclusivity committee with a friend to create a safe space for students to share their experiences and work toward solutions. One of the committee’s proudest achievements is the annual Inclusivity Summit, now in its third year, which brings together more than 100 students from more than 15 schools across New Jersey to discuss racial equity, share personal stories and confront biases through collaborative activities. Ali has played an important role in organizing the summit, from brainstorming ideas to coordinating logistics, ensuring the event remains a positive experience for all attendees. The Summit has increased awareness of racial issues at Roxbury High and inspired similar initiatives at other schools. As Ali prepares to graduate, leadership of the inclusivity committee will be passed to underclassmen, with the goal of expanding the committee’s reach nationally to connect students across the country and advance racial equity and inclusion in schools. Through this work, Ali hopes to inspire lasting change and empower future generations to create more inclusive communities.
