Shawn Ohazuruike has won the Princeton Prize in Race Relations, an award presented each year by Princeton University to qualified applicants in 26 regions nationally. Winners receive a $1,000 cash award and attend a two-day symposium on race hosted by Princeton University in April that conducts conversations and workshops with high school and Princeton students, alumni and faculty.
Ohazuruike had helped lead DAP (Diversity Among Peers) and credits Nourie and her fellow DAP moderator Tony Negrin as mentors. Both encouraged him to apply for the Princeton Prize. Ohazuruike is so passionate about the topic of race relations that he had a difficult time limiting himself to the application's suggested work count; clearly his words were read and appreciated.
